What do you guys/gals pay for insurance? I was all ready to sign papers for an 04 honda CBR 600 RR, and then i talked to my insurance company.
I am 19 yrs old, w/no accidents and 1 ticket, and i was just quoted 6000, yeah, 6000 a year...i couldn't believe it. The bike itself doesn't cost much more than that... i told the woman she had to be crazy!! Does that sound right? or :eek3: ...any input would be appreciated...

just get liablity and theft if you ever need full coverage chances are youll be either a vegetable or dead, also call round i have farmers full coverage (20 yrs old w/ no accidents or tickets) 03 suzuki sv650s (they charge by the cc, so i'd have paid cheaper w/ a 600 super sport) $400 a year w/ full coverage but thats only because i have a policy w/ them for my firebird. freeway auto insurance was the next cheapest, i dunno if they have that in your state though.

I get quotes for around 500-600 a year with Progressive when I run it through.

My buddy pays $240 every 6 months for his 600RR through state farm. He's 25 which probably helps and they also have a house, another bike, and 4 cars insured through them. Try state farm though.

I was wondering how Progressive calculates it, for example, would it be more for me since I rent an apartment, rather than own a home?

Would it be less if I also had a car insured through them?

you need full coverage for Honda financing. shorting out of collision will violate the terms of the Honda loan.

i tried doing a hypothetical quote with progressive online. i tried an 04 gixxer 750, a 99 gixxer 750, and a 92 f2. the difference between the 04 gixxer and 92 f2 was about 10 bucks a month. i don't know how they come up with those prices :dunno:

What should I be getting for coverage?

    Injury?

    Liability?

    Property Damage?

    Comprehensive?

    Collision?

i will be getting just liability. i have a garage i can lock my bike up in. if i was in an apt i would probably get that and theft also. but theft should always be considered with bikes. and check out full coverage prices. sometimes it's only a few bucks more a month.
