I have an Asus S1300 Laptop that does not have a cd/dvd drive and am having trouble installing Windows XP Pro or Home onto this machine, the machine does have a floppy drive though. I have tried copying the whole cd to the hard disk then booting from floppy, then running winnt from the i386 folder, no luck so far as it says EULA not found.

    Any help would be great.

    THank you

How did you copy the files from the CD to the hard drive if there is no CD-ROM drive?

You can't run Windows from the i386 directory because those are only the setup files.

You need to install windows. Look for setup.exe.

    Probably best solution is...
Find someone with a RIS server..as in you would boot to LAN and have a server feed you the install. I doubt that (if your in high school) the IT guy would let you do it at your school; if they do have more than 150 computers and no RIS server please slap them.
It might be a different story at college...

    do this
copy the files to the HD
make a windows 98 boot diskwith smartdrv on it
    boot to the disk
    run smartdrv TWICE
    the cd c:
    cd xp
    cd i386
    winnt
and it will start the setup

    edit
also if it can boot to a USB drive then you can boot to a external drive or a USB key

Thanks for all the replies, figured it out, I didn't have smart drive installed. Took like 12+hours for the OS to install:eek3:

It wasn't frozen it was just freakin slow.. I copied the files by pulling the hard drive out and putting it into another machine
