I have an old plotter, HP Designjet 450C, that's currently hooked up and functioning well on an older desktop. I recently purchased a new desktop, and was wanting to install the printer on the new desktop, only I've long since lost the installation CD for the printer, and HP no longer offers support for the 450C. Is there any way I can make this work using what I already have on the old desktop? Thanks.

Printer sharing is not really an option as I plan on getting rid of the old desktop as soon as I get this figured out.

Copy your Windows\inf and Windows\System32\spool folders to a CD. That should contain most if not all of the driver files you'll need. I've done this through a couple of formats for a printer I had until I finally found the CD.

So once I do that, do I simply go to Add a Printer, and specify the location I copied for the driver location?

Yes... It's worked for me many times.

It would work better if you can have both machines on the network and having the C: drive of the old machine shared.

If you are missing drivers/files, it will tell you the name of the file so you can search for it.

I knew to look it up because my friends wife ran into the exact
same thing with them (HP) this past summer with their printer.

I did some digging and found the right driver for them.
