Is it possible to instal and run a Laptop hd (11g) into a desktop tower and using it as a slave/transfer files to main hd? Is this possible and if so how?

Sure is. You need an adapter like the one below. I don't believe 2.5" drives have master/slave jumpers like desktop hard drives, but if you connect it as the only drive on the secondary IDE channel, you'll be fine. Once its connected, your desktop will see it as just another hard drive.
