A&P inside the kit lens :ugh:

    this is what you see after taking off the rear cover. note the potentiometer :squint:

    after detaching the pcb... note the encoder for the focal length :eek4:

    zoomed the lens to 55mm to get a better view of the insides. note the gearbox (what appears to be the only metal thing in this lens :hs: ) and the second encoder for the focus and the focus motor... :hsd:

    I had the opportunity to take apart a tamron 28-300 (well, two of them). very interesting but I don't see how it can be taken apart without breaking something.

    two reasons, because how the zoom gets stiff towards 18mm was driving me nuts and I want to see if I can make it not so stiff (but I got confused by all the mechanical parts in it :wtc: so I gave up) and I like taking stuff apart and I've never taken a lens apart yet :big grin:.

    should be getting a sigma 70-300 apo and a canon 50 1.8 soon... but I don't think I'll take apart the sigma soon :p
