I am not sure if this has been posted before, but it is now official. On June 8, 2004 Nissan Jidosha K.K. has trademarked the next GT-R for Infiniti as a 2007 model.

2004-06-08/AU, PH, EU INFINITI GT-R Nissan Jidosha K.K. Supercoupé Due 2007

You can check the most recent trademark filings here:

    Some more news.
This is the blurb about Nissan: Having pushed aside Honda in Japan, it's gaining North American share with Titan trucks and the Altima sedan.

About Toyota: With rock-solid quality and the edge in hybrid cars, the Japanese auto maker is on track to overtake Ford in worldwide sales.

About Mercedes: With wobbly profits and quality problems, the luxury car brand is struggling to retain premium status.

About Honda: Overtaken by Nissan at home and falling further behind rival Toyota in the U.S. market.

    Honda is losing ground because:

They fucked up the Civic (which doesn't matter anyway because now every kid that was 16-18 between 1993 and 2002 seems to have owned one and hates how popular it became)

They fucked up the Accord looks, altho the engine selection is better.

    The Si is fucking gay.

    The Element is atrocious.

The Pilot is nice but doesn't measure up to many rivals.

    The insight is a failure.

The Prius is a better hybrid than the Civic since it was designed ground up to be a hybrid.

And the pickup, oh god that damned pickup.

Gaining share in a market you were never in before is not unusual. Are they doing as well as the old players like Chevy, Ford, GMC, Dodge, and even Toyota? Hell no. Although they are pretty close to Toyota, but that doesn't say much with Toyota's weakly powered offering.

uh, my karma ran over your dogma?

it's just an opinion. Nobody's really supposed to like it. the altima is supposed to be a car built of compromises. it's a family sedan.

Bullshit. The Altima was built to kick ass and take names. Everyone who owns an Altima, like the Altima whilst Accord and Camry owners simply drive their car out of duty.

I like the titan. I've generally been a fan of small japanese trucks, and i'm glad to see nissan entering the big truck market.
I just remember reading that it was a really well done truck, and wasn't getting the love it derserved for some reason or another.

Tangentially, I'm pissed about Houston losing the toyota truck factory to San Antonio .

The Titan is a good truck. It's just not selling nearly as well as the big dogs. It will work it's way up with time tho.

The Pilot surpasses it's rivals, since it's basically an Acura MDX, only $10k less. The reviews have all been positive.

I'm not sure if it's in the same class, but I'd happily take an Envoy/Trailblazer/any other clone GM and affiliates have made, over a Pilot. AWD + powerful inline 6 longitudilly mounted = teh win.

Also the Vue is the same shit mostly, but cheaper too.
