I got my Industrial done back in January. A friend of mine did it for me, he is a piercer at another friend's Tattoo shop. He had to bend the bar a little because apparently my ear didn't have enough skin in the right spot. So off the bat I wasn't happy about it. But it was free and he's a piercer so he knows what he's doing.. right!? Well anyway, I am having trouble with it to this day. It won't heal right and it sometimes still hurts to sleep on it. So I was thinking of maybe changing the barbell and making it two seperate rings, like the horseshoe ones I have in my 1st and 2nd holes. But I don't know if they will fit right/look right and such.

So I'm asking what you all think. Should I change them to rings? Keep cleaning it and hope it heels? Any good advice will help.
    Thank you.

My piercer recommends that you heal an industrial seperately with two rings and then change to the bar.
Im sure some people here will say otherwise tho.

industrials are very tempermental piercings. they could be healing fine one day then go very bad the next day.

switching/healing with rings poses one major problem. the holes may migrate slightly and then they wouldnt line up and you may not be able to get the original barbell through both holes without some discomfort.

what are you cleaning it with? id stick with just sea salt soaks. if you'er using soap it could be irritating the piercing as well. If you can post a picture of it.

    unfortunately this isnt always true

    Thank everyone.

I was told today to take it out and let it heal and then try it again. Not sure if 'my friend' used a hallow needle or not. So out it comes to heal.
    Wish me luck.

    And thanks again.

What do you mean by salt soaks? like dissolve sea salt into a cup of water and cotton ball apply it or something? Should you rinse your ear off after?

But how can you actually SOAK the top of your ear? That'd involve putting the entire ear in it, getting shit all over your hair and in your ear.

This is a fine solution for soaking hard to reach/soak places. Do not rinse off, just pat dry with clean cotton ball, etc. (Try not to use a towel..they carry bazillions of germs/mold.)

I got my industrial done back in december and it still isn't healed. I usually leave it alone, but sometimes it gets caught on my shirt when taking it off, or I find blood spots on my pillow in the morning, which means I rolled over onto that side at some point.

Keep at it, unless you already took it out :squint: Should be 6-9 months for it to fully heal.

Don't be scared. Just take care of it right, you'll be fine. Plus they look badass. And don't hurt as bad as everyone says. IMO anyway, and it was my first piercing. :dunno:

I go to a shop called Twisted Heart for my piercings. My tattoo I got in Downtown Orlando.

Both me and my girlfriend had industrial piercings done, just a couple of weeks apart.

She opted for 2 rings and she waited 5 weeks before putting a metal bar in. It caused her a bit of trouble, and lumps formed around the piercing (as I've seen a *lot* with industrial piercings, usually when the bar is too short) but after persistant cleaning with salt solution / bursting of the lumps, it cleared up.

I went for a PTFE bar in mine, but it was too short and lumps formed too. In the end I used two smaller barbells and after about 7 or 8 weeks I put a barbell in with a few mm of clearance, just to play it safe.

    Since then it's been fine...

I have one in both ears. They've been healing on and off for two and a half years. They get pissed at you if you sleep on them wrong, then tend to clear up... sorry, no advice, just.. I feel your ear pain.

i'm a big fan of not looking stoopid. keep the piercings to a minimum & stick to quality tatoos.
