Not exactly written as an unbiased opinion. Essentially there is no result of the study except, "there isnt enough evidence"...

    Doesnt talk about...
    Curbing cravings when not smoking.
Curbing cravings when under low carbs.
Dropping water retention when under higher carbs or higher levels of estro.

Too much water CAN be a problem with electrolyte balance. It happens to people with potomania (ie : urge to drink liquids, often beer, but there's a psychogenic potomania associated with dieting usually).

You don't need to drink 6-8 glasses (or cups I don't remember) of water like we often hear. This was quoted from an OLD study and the study also said that we get that amount of water from various places during the day (food, soups, coffee, tea, milk, etc.).

Need? No, you can live 3 days without it but the question is whether you should. Water is one of the best things in the world for you. I would say it's better to have too much than too little.

90% of the population is actually dehydrated. It's so bad that most people are mistaking a thirst for hunger and eating more, thus causing obesity.

    It keeps your joints hydrated.

    Muscles perform better.

    Your brain functions better.

    Your GI tract functions better.

I'm not sure what the point of the above mentioned study was, other than just to put something out.

As far as getting water form other sources, coffee actually makes you lose water, soup has salt in it and milk is caloric.

I didn't read the article but I feel a lot better when I drink a lot of water and it seems to help keep my blood pressure from skyrocketing.

Coffee doesn't make you lose water. Caffeine does a bit, but the actual amount of water you get while drinking a coffee usually is greater than the water you lose from the caffeine content. It can be an issue for someone talking caffeine pills though.
The point is that we don't need/have to drink all the water we are often suggested to drink.
And no, there's no need to list the problems associated with dehydration...

I've heard several nutritionists say the same thing, but that's under the assumption your sugar and salt intake is incredibly low.

This is assuming you are a "normal" human being with regular americanized health habits (no offense).
I am assuming this is different for most members of FN that rigorously exercise at least 1 hour a day and have very strict training schedules.

I doubt if the same to applies to anyone taking PH's, HRT or any type of other stims.

I know that if you are questioning liver toxicity, in some cases increased water intake can improve concerns over excessive orals stress on liver.

They had a blurb in men's health (loliknorite) about a study that showed not being properly hydrated pre workout had a direct correlation with loss of strength during your workout.

Something like 20% less strength if not properly hydrated during your session.

I do think the article is right.

But because looking more defined or getting rid of water retention is rarely a necessity. So I'll still stick with at leat 1 gallon of water per day with all due respect to andrew and the article. 2-3 days of drinking at least that amount does make a difference for me.

:dunno: I've felt way better since i started consciously drinking more water. Not as achey/fatigued when working out, stops silly headaches and I think it helps me not munch so much.
