w/ summer around the corner, I've been looking at a nice pair or 2 of sunglasses... I found a pair of Tom Fords I like, which are normally $450, on sale for $200.. still too much for something that can easily be lost or messed up?

I've spent more, but my last two pairs were under 150. Tom Fords are nice, I'd say go for it.

$200 isn't expensive, especially with such a large cut in price.

I've accepted it. Paid about $200 each for a pair of Maui Jims and Oliver Peoples.

Just remember to consider how fast you go through sunglasses. I try to not spend as much on sunglasses because they don't tend to last more than a couple years at most.

Not at all, especially if you don't lose them regularly.

Depends on how well you hold on glasses and how often you use them. I personally think the difference between 50$ glasses and 200$ is pretty moot quality and performance wise, but if it just looks so right on your face and are pretty unique, go for it. But if it's something common or commonly imitated ie. Wayfarers or aviators, I would save the cash and get really quality no-name glasses for 50-80$

Think of it this way: You wear them 200+ days a year, and they keep your eyes safe from debilitating sun rays. The amortized cost of your sunglasses is likely less than $1/day, and you get longer lasting eyes.

Seems like a great investment to me.
