I'm looking into finally buying some speakers for my home theater system.

The main problem is my wife hates the look of all speakers. I was thinking that mounting some in wall speakers just for the surrounds wouldn't be too bad but was wondering if anyone had some personal experience with any.

Are they really that much worse then a nice bookshelf speaker, at leaset for the surrounds?

It really depends on what company you go with, inwall speaker technology is getting better and better. Also depends on your budget.

Angstrom has some good choices with their Ambienti series:

if you wish to purchase from them then I suggest going to their Contact Us section or doing a brief online search.

    RBH is another awesome company:

those run about 650 a pair and they have even lower cost options as well

If you want in-cieling one of the best is Paradigm since they dont use an angling tweater. Instead they rate their drivers at 30 degrees off axis so a pair of speakers can actually cover a room in sound without rolling off all high frequencies to one seat in the house (which is what angled tweaters mostly do).

    For a pair of AMS-150 (8" in-cieling) I think your looking at around 450. or SA-15 (8" in-cieling) around 650.
