Time to upgrade. Need something for videos (would like a nice monitor), intarweb, photo editing, and light gaming. Most importantly, I want something reliable.

I was looking at an HP with AMD athlon 2.5GHz and 500GB + 21" monitor for $700, but I'm not too sure about HP (I've had dell and gateway in the past).

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

please do not buy that hp. do you have enough knowledge to build your own by any chance? it's not that difficult and you will save tons + get much better performance

most large corps use very genaric parts and charge you for it. when you build your own you are getting name brand and reliable parts for a more wholesale price.

reliability and performace per dollar are my letdowns by companies such as HP/Compaq/Dell/Toshiba/Sony ect

    Budget is everything.

Dell recently ran an Intel E2180 build with a 22" LCD monitor for $399 with os and warranty.

It would be silly to build your own in that price range.
