My friend and training partner (have known the kid since 3rd grade) has the state powerlifting meet on friday.

Can anyone give some advice on what he should do to prepare for the meet (short term stuff obviously).

Also, can anyone suggest what warmup sets he should be doing?

    Stats:

Bench: 315 raw, dont know what the shirted is
Sqaut: 455 with belt and wraps
    Sumo Deadlift: 465

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

If he is cutting to make weight, have a 1 gallon jug with a quart of pedialyte, 2 quarts of gatorade, and water on hand to and start sipping immediately after weigh in. Assuming he is doing same-day weigh ins, tell him to weigh in as soon as possible, then bloat up and make the gear tighter.

Make sure he has fun... this part seems to get overlooked a lot at meet.

Just got back home from States and my friend did awsome. Me setting his routine and diet on track, as well as all the hard work he put in on his part definately payed off. He ended up winning first place in the Varsity men's 207 equiped devision. I came along as his "coach" and spotter.

    Here are his numbers:

Squat (wraps and belt): 430, 445 PR, 460 PR
Benchpress (single ply shirt): 285, 305 (miss), 305 PR
    Deadlift (just a belt): 425, 445, 455 PR

Amazing performance on his part. We both definately had a lot of fun at the meet and it was a great time. Too bad Muskegon, Michigan is a bumfuck town though... :hs:

The meet was very interesting. Our platfrom was pretty unluckey though. One kid threw up in the middle of his sqaut all over the judge who sits in the front. Then the tower with all the light bulbs (white and red) fell over, sending glass flying everywhere. Some kid also got a rediculous nose bleed in the middle oh his third attempt deadlift (570lb) and still ended up locking it out.

He can touch-and-go 315 easy, but at the meet you had to pause which makes it much harder. He borrowed the shirt too so it didnt fit him too well. Not to mention he never trained shirted.
