I had an industrial done about two weeks ago (maybe 3) and have just informed the parents, who pay my tuition, insurance, rent, etc. They are PISSED and apparently they want me to pay for all of my expenses out of pocket now. I should probably be doing this anyway, but I guess I'm your typical college student, and I really don't like the idea of taking out loans.

Obviously for the sake of my parents feelings (and the financial reasons) I'm considering taking it out. Is it too early to do so and will there be problems with healing if I do? and has anyone else experienced a similar situation?

I'd say they're overreacting just a little bit.

I know it's shitty, but it happens to a lot of college students. It's not just getting a job but pissing them off so much that makes me upset with this whole thing.

The only thing you gain by leaving it in, is the feeling of standing up to your parents... which isn't enough to give up 20k (give or take) and to take on years of debt.

Take it out and get it again when you don't need their money.

mine were pretty pissed off about my lip and was gonna kick me out. they also pay for my tuition but never threating me with it...i just refused to take it out and they have to understand i'm old enough to make my decisions and it's what i want. however, ur situtation might be different if they are serious about cutting you off..i was really close in taking mine out too cause it was almost not worth it

Your parents are fucking nuts. Take the industrial out, get a PA and a frenum ladder and once you are out on your own walk into your home with you cock whipped out :dunno:

hmm... good idea. The funny thing is I don't really live at home, and this summer I'm stayin on martha's vinyard and paying for that myself... they're nice enough to pay for my education but they have no right to hang it over my head, I have decided to call their bluff anyway :eek3:. Should be an interesting easter weekend.

that's the strategy... I highly doubt they'd want me to be uneducated as well as a 'punk' as I guess they think I am now.

I guess times have changed, either way I don't think I'm going to back down. Thanks for the help all.

You're dropping out of college so that you can keep a damned piercing?

:werd: My mother was much more accepting of my tattoos than of my nostril stud. WTF? I can take a piercing out, tattoos are forever.

    parents just don't understand. :)

I am lucky my parents are cool. Is there a chance they will calm down and it will all blow over?

My first piercing was the reason i was forced to find an apartment for myself at 18. :hs: A parents perspective on what is REALLY important is awesome, isnt it?

Edited to add: And then 2 years later, the same parents PAY for my sisters tongue piercing and signed a waiver for my 17 yr old brother to get his first tattoo! At least they came around, I guess..but the oldest kid always gets screwed!

hey i am going through the same thing right now. i just went and got my second tattoo and both ears pierced the other night. i am no longer dependent on my parents so the only mature thing they have come up with is they are not speaking to me. it is all over the ears to. like everyone else has said, i can take those out anytime and it will all heal up yet i will have my tattoos forever.
