Congratulations, but many members here will agree that 23 lbs. is too much for 2 months.

Either way it's still difficult, so good job.

Did you cut a lot of carbs? Carbs hold onto water, so when you cut them you'll quickly lose some water weight. Make sure you're still DOWNING a LOT of water.

I think you should only be dropping 1 pound a week or so for it to be healthy from what I've been told

I thought that 2-2.5lbs weight loss per week was considered the safe non muscle loss range? For someone like myself that is a semi-fatty with horrible nutrition Im sure that alot of it starts as water loss???

I just lost about 24lbs in 10 weeks and thats exactly what I was trying to do. I calculated my calories consumed vs burned and planned my exercise routine accordingly and was right on the money.

I'd like to hear more people chime in.

I thought 1-2 lbs of weight loss per week after your initial shedding of water weight was more along the lines of healthy, especially if you intend to maintain the weight loss.

Personally, I am on a mission to lose 20 lbs...had a house guest crashing and didn't spend time at home making meals. This week is all about getting back on the right track eating wise. I did, however, keep up the gym routine I got going right now.

    That speed is fine.

But at 6' 188 you must look like a stick.

I agree based on his starting state...Me I was almost two fitty at 6'1 so initially 2.5 lbs a week is cool. Now I am happy with a pound a week. Im gonna actually start lifting again any ways so Im sure I wont see much weight loss for a while. But thats ok by me ;)

Yeah, putting on muscle will kill your weight loss on a scale, but if you track your body fat % losses and inches gained/lost tends to be a whole lot less discouraging. I know a lot of people put a whole lot of faith in scale numbers, but really should be tracking the overall progress.

Grats on weight lost though, to both you and the threadstarter.

What it says on the scale is irrelevant. Liking what you see in the mirror is far more important
