imovie problem

    im trying to import something and i get a "error during import" " This file blahblahblah .mov can`t be imported; Quicktime couldn`t parse it: -2048"

    what does that mean i can`t import clips from online?

    what was it encoded in? Quicktime Movie file is just a wrapper; technically speaking it could've been DivX contained in a .mov file (though the way it is now, you'd have to go through a lot of trouble to get that to be the case).

    Anyway it sounds like you're trying to import a movie made with a codec that Quicktime can't read for one reason or another, even though it's wrapped as a .mov. Tool around on versiontracker to see if you can find some open source conversion tools... the name is evading me now but there's a good general purpose encoder out there that is connected to the mplayer software series.
