I'm trying to create a movie with imovie hd. I added a mpeg to the clips and draged it to the timeline, problem is there's no sound now? any ideas on how I get the sound to work from the mpeg?

Is there sound when you play the mpeg in quicktime? If not, then iMovie HD is polly using QT to encode the mpeg, and if QT wont encode it properly iMovie HD won't, therefore you need codecs :)

there is sound in quicktime and this happens everytime I add a mpeg to imovie hd. I'm trying to take a mpeg and make it a dvd, is there an easier way than what I'm trying to do?

the way mpeg stores its audio keeps it from being extracted in iMovie and Final Cut. you need to extract it using Quicktime Pro or other programs and insert them separately. i've been having this problem for some time now and it isn't just you.

do you have pro or just quicktime that comes with the machine? you have to upgrade to pro. search the discussion forums on apple.com. I haven't in a while but they did have a thread about it several months ago.

ok, see export, so I have to export the video as say mpeg4 and then go back and extract the audio after?

again, I don't have pro so I haven't done it but I was reading somewhere that you export the video and audio separately. I thought it was the export option. does it have file options for .mp3, .wav, .aif or anything like that?
