What's the best way to create an image of a hard drive. Would obviously have to restore the hard drive with the image, or be able to browse through the image for selected files.

I'd prefer being able to accomplish this with a live CD. Couldn't find anything nice for Linux. Acronis and r-studio require the software to be on the OS if I'm not mistaken, but would it be my best bet?

I still use Ghost from a personal PoV. The Explorer needs to be installed, but the actual imaging part of it doesn't.

Look like Acronis True Image Home does have a live CD. I'm going to try that.

If you can make post as to how it works out for you. I'd be interested in hearing from you about it.
