Here's a little background on my situation ...

I've got a Firewire camera hooked up to a Gentoo Linux system. The card is all set up, I can access the camera via Coriander (a firewire camera image viewing application). And I've got my C++ application that I wrote that captures frames at a rate I specify.

My problem is this ... let's say I have a buffer and its got five 1024x768 images in it. How can I dump this to a valid uncompressed video format? There has to be some kind of header right? What format should I dump it to? It's got to be compressionless for post processing. Yeah, I know the files will be HUGE, but I'm not recording more than, say, 5 second movies at a time.

I've googled "uncompressed video formats", etc and I can't find any specs on them. Anyone have experience with this?
