I'm going to Japan in 2 days and I am bringing my camera. I will be there for 17 days and probably going to take lots of pictures. Is there any software you guys know which I can install on my web server so I can upload some of my pictures but without degrading the image quality. So if I need to upload some raw files or high quality JPEG.

    Any help would be appreciated.

are you bringing a laptop? or are you trying to go from camera --> webserver?

if ur bringing a laptop just store it on there..or if thats not enough find an FTP client and upload the files to your site.

Although I don't know for sure, I would imagine that any FTP client would do the trick assuming the PC you use views your attached camera as a removable drive.

Yeah, I hear Japan has lots of cheap electronics stuff like memory cards :dunno:

But worse comes to worse, you can just upload a zip file of your whole memory card to one of the file sharing websites. Be better if you can get some dedicated FTP space though.

when i was in tokyo internet cafes were pretty cheap and had very fast connections.

i would sign up for some dreamhost space and just upload all your pictures from an internet cafe if youre not bringing a laptop or external drive or anything.

there are plenty of file-uploader scripts that you can install on a webserver. a dedicated file protocol like FTP is going to be much better, but might cause problems at some web cafes.. no reason why you can't run both.

some dodgey web cafes use poorly configured proxies rather than nat etc so even if the ftp app is on the web it will just not connect. it would be best to have a http upload as well as ftp.

I think Webftp has a 7mb per file upload limit, so it's probably not an option for raws.

I installed a script on my domain where I can upload files and have the option to set what kinds of files and the size of said files that can be uploaded.
