Code and live example here: http://www.martininteriordesign.com/

In the light blue under the picture, I want to have interactive links. Like a:hover type of stuff. Is this possible in an image map?

If not an image map, how about a div tag? But then I can't get the div to hover/float over the light blue because it's part of the image.

I tried separating the light blue from the actual picture, and making it a separate div but there's a space in-between the two then that I can't get rid of either... It's really pissing me off because I've seen it done before (no example). Any suggestions/tips/tricks?

That's really bad. You shouldn't ever have to resort to using image maps, with the exception of a very few tasks that would require image maps. That can easily be done in basic markup/text. However, if you insist on utilizing image maps, www.alistapart.com has a great article about what you are trying to do here: http://www.alistapart.com/articles/imagemap

I actually have no idea. I didn't design it, it's part of the image itself. Sorry.
