Seems after that Cung Lee Shamrock fight that there is another bully on the block and with Tim leaving, arvloski gone.. tito about to be gone.. (anyone else?) that the UFC wants/needs to get someone like Fedor..

If they dont then it's going to be Fedor vs Coture in some other show and that's not going to be good for the UFC at all.

    Thoughts?

UFC still has a big market share and its become a household name and the sports described quite often as ultimate fighting so I think its gonna take alot to change that. They also have an established stable of known fighters. Reality TV which keeps brining new guys through with a pre made fan base. The other shows are catching up in quality but I dont see it being a big issue for the UFC.

with the right marketing it would be very easy to build his fan base. it's what they were doing with crocop only he kept losing. anderson silva doesn't speak english, but his fighting speaks for itself. i think the same applies to fedor. i do agree that good wrestlers would give him a hard time in the cage though. i've been waiting for the josh barnett fight to happen for a long time. still... fedor has beaten some great wrestlers in his day.

Matt Lindland.... end of that list. And the fight was controversial because he won due to holding on to the ropes. And Fedor is a heavyweight and Lindland fights at 185.

I just dont think the UFC thinks of it as a "oh we'll be ok" I think they want to grow and grow and grow and with that type of mentality why not bring in the arguably best HW in the world?

The 2 million thing though.. jesus.. that's a ton of money to be giving a fighter this day and age

2 Million really isnt alot expecially with as much profit as the UFC makes on every PPV

True but then again.. it's a risk.. and would change the way fighters are paid.. when this happens you know every other fighter is going to pickup their phone and call Dana going "My turn motherfucker, pay me".

That's what I bet the problem is, with giving him that kind of money they are going to have to give everyone more money

    Maybe :dunno:

2 mil is nothing, esp if you compare it to boxing salaries, or any other pro sport. for superstars in any other sport, 2 mil is chump change. your derek jeter's and alex rodriguez's makes like 40 grand just for waking up every day, year round.

isn't it time for everyone else to make more money? the amount earned per pay per view event has risen much higher/faster than fighter pay has.

you take that potential risk in any sport. players are signed for tons of money and end up doing nothing. you can't gain anything if you aren't willing to risk something...

  21. 2 Million isn't a lot if there is no cut of the PPV. Chuck and Randy made around 2 million, with PPV cuts and everything. If Fedor just gets a check for 2 mil with no bonuses, PPV, etc. (Or the 2 million is only when including that) it's only what other top draws get.

If the money does come to the fighters it'll change everything.. a mma dude can't really go into pro boxing.. but a pro boxer COULD potentially get into MMA and do well.. say Roy Jones Junior past his prime or Mike Tyson
