My first issue is saving backing up my old data on a flash drive. Why because i cant afford to buy one. Would i be able to buy a external hd at best buy..use it, delete all the info and than return for my money back?

Also do you guys recomemnd any particular HD...I was thinking of the Western Digital - Scorpio 320GB Internal SATA Hard Drive for Laptops for $89

    Product Features
    320GB maximum storage capacity
    SATA interface
Data transfer rates up to 3 Gbps
7200 rpm for fast read/write times
    12 ms average seek time
    16MB cache
    Compatible with PC and Mac

or should i go with more gigs and less rpm for cheaper money?

You dont need to backup game data, just saved games -- which are pretty small.. just get a usb thumb drive to back them up

Do u have a ipod classic? if u do u can just use that as a backup device. Thats what i use for mine. As far as the game backup utility...i saves everything..not just saved games, so expect to need at least 30 gigs of free space.

no you have to have at least a flash drive, but it's just more selective in what it backs up

I bought a 500 gig USB Seagate portable HD for just 120 bux...not really a big fan of WD anymore....only reason why i went with the in the past was cause thier warranty was bad ass.

You can't borrow someone's external USB hdd or jump drive for a day? If you do the backup utility to an external, then you can copy everything over...including games and movies bought from PSN.

And a 7200rpm hdd in the PS3 won't give you any advantage so stick with a 5400 rpm one. You could get a flash drive with the cash you save. :)
