So tomarrow I'm going to be ordering a new computer. If any of you know me I have always been a huge AMD fan. The last intel I had was a p4 1.7ghz and I hated it. Long story short, I need a new computer and I can't justify supporting phenom because is sucks so much. So I'm building an intel/ati system.

    Parts I'm going to order:
    proc: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16819115017
    mobo: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16813131227
    memory: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16820227252
    cooler: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16835118003

    Parts I already have:
    Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119068
    HD 1: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136012
    HD 2: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136075
    GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102713
PSU: Antec true power 450w(I know it's crap)(I tried replacing it with a corsair 520w but the one I got was doa)
DVD-RW: I don't know which brand but it's sata(isn't that all that really matters)

So my question is: Would it be worth it to get: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131235 instead for future dd3 support(when prices come down) and 3 slots for crossfire? Thoughts? Suggestions?

    not really.

ati = amd, so you're still supporting 'em.

I know you think that case is shitty, but I already have it and I don't have a single complaint with it. It's a case, it matches my desk, it holds my computer, and it has a power and reset buttons. What more do I need?

what type of problems? I heard early versions of it has some bios and stablity issues but that has been fixed for the most part with newer revisions of it.

the feature-loaded asus boards cheap-out on the ancillary components... The board will likely perform basic functions properly, but extras such as audio, raid, additional pata/sata controllers, firewire, etc tend to break.

clubit ftw. that's where i just got my q6600 g0 and ip435 pro. the q66 from clubit was 10-15 cheaper about a month or two ago though.

i avoid newegg generally just to avoid taxes.

thanks for the link to the processor I will get it there.

I don't really care for that motherboard very much. The pci-x16 slots are not 2.0. The second pci-x16 slot is only a 4x slot. The color scheme is horiable. And I really like the external poster and pci-e sound cards included on the asus.

can you show me some proof of this? All the reviews of the board I have read love everything about the board and also list that all components of the board are extreamly high quality.

Another question for anyone who know: Would I see any memory performance difference in having 2x2gb sticks vs 4x1gb sticks? I'm going to be running vista 64bit so I was thinking might as well get the 2x2gb sticks so that I can spend some more money later to get 8gigs even though I know this is completly pointless.

99.9% of reviews handle a board anywhere from a few hours, to a few weeks. A "long-term" review might span a week or two.

My information is based on RMA's over the 1 year that I handle customer's equipment.

the difference depends on a lot of factors
    e.g.
    - certain motherboards will handle 2x2GB better then 4x1GB or vice versa
    - 2x2GB will be easier for the memory controller than all 4 dimms occupied
    - 1GB sticks generally has better timings and price/performance ratio
    - RAM voltage & temp
    - etc

most people just go whichever is cheaper
