Im thinking about putting a cheap sub setup in my daily driver..

ive got a clarion deck right now from way back when, it wont play cds so im going to get an aux cable and just get a cheap mp3 player for it, i like the deck its cd function has just decided to quit operating :mamoru:

the only thing I really want to add to my POS setup is bass, im not even going to bother fucking around with the fronts, i just want a thumper in the trunk (decks got sub out)

i want to keep the sub under 200 or so + shipping

im looking at JL w3, ID IDQ, and FI SSD.

    opinions thoughts?

not sure about an amp, i want to stay under 300 if possible.

and then im not going to deaden a single inch on the inside, i am, however, going to deaden my plates. (pet peeve)

im going sealed for small box, i want 0 bass distortion, i want 100 percent bass SQ on a budget, i dont want to throw much money into this thing because I dont care all that much, need to get my stang done and after that im gonna start a new project (bronco with obnoxious SPL), my stang set up will be intense when done, Z6s, alpine rears, need a sub for the stang 2, will probably go for something under 650(that should cover anything just about lol), sealed box, need something that will work well on 1200x1ohm, 50-50ish on SQL, running DLS ultimate series amps all around and about 700 dollars of sound deadening

i figure if i decide to get rid of the sub/amp setup ill sell it to a friend or something.

wheres a good place to get industrial velcro?

PS: when did elemental designs start selling DLS shit?

SSD is not an SQ driver. Neither is the W3. From your listed drivers the IDQ is best for SQ.

I tried out the Dayton Titanic III's and it was awsome. Plenty of excurstion and efficent. 5-600w is all they need. It fits right in most people's budget too ($160 + Shipping from PE).

A if you are looking for a 1000w amp for $300 you can find a great amp used if you are pacient or a decent amp new. I'm very impressed with how Hifonics has revamped their brutus line. Still dont expect rated numbers though.

not a lot of SQ oriented drivers sub 200 so i was guesstimating while i looked at some, i just want something that sounds clean and smooth while it handles proper output

    what about:

    or

    http://www.tcsounds.com/tc1000.htm

    as well?

Nothing wrong with TC or TC bassed subs. :dunno:

    Rl-i users swear by them.

If you keep a keen eye out you can pick up a TC9 bassed driver (like the TC2000 or RL-P) with in your budget.

the Fi drivers are excellent in SQ, but you have to make sure you get the correct volume for your enclosure! their Qtc and Le can be changed however, if you ask Scott directly.

TC sounds, although great drivers, is in the shitter financially...it will be a matter of time before they close shop unfortunately.

I would personally contact Scott at Ficaraudio or AscendantAudio, and get one of those.....

    Have you, you fucking imbicile?

You opinion is absolutely irrelevant, all the time.

I'd look into an SSD w/ the copper coil, OR an SSA Icon...

I swapped them out for my mags, swapped my mags out for them in the Towncar. Put an SSD in my Sealed Mag box. SQ is no better than an SX. They also werent as loud as the Mags on the TL either. Maybe you didnt know that Fi took a jump and then sort of flopped with South East competitors as well.

    They're what, $189shipped woofers?

No shit the MAGS are superior. Also, the SX are superior in some aspects.

I'd put the SSD's b/w the SE's and the SX.

SSD w/ copper coil for good sealed SQ setup.

And I'd take an SE long before I'd take an SSD for SQ.

You and me both know that since Mags are dealer bassed their retail price is well over what it could be if it were a direct buy. :p

I had the dayton titanic mkIII great driver but i've heard so many subs and my favorite still is the Image Dynamics IDQ.... I can't get over the musicality of it. It takes everything, even rap bass and makes it sound beautiful....

About to stick an IDQ15 in my car... had so many subs across the board and IDQ always comes out on top.... just my 2 cents.

I sold my best friend an IDQ10 in high school, he still runs it in his STI and this was years ago.

Also gave my girl an IDQ10 off 150watts and it pounds out clean bass in a .5 sealed box...
