alright, first im not in bad shape, i can run a mile in under 7 minutes but thats not my problem. im really skinny, im 5'11" and about 130. ive been wanting to get bigger and stronger for awhile now, ive finally decided im going to do something about it. the only problem is i have limited resources and i dont know where to start. all i have is two 10 pound weights. what are some ways to do this? i want to make my arms, chest, back and abdomen bigger and also my legs. im planning on running a mile every night but what can i do with free weights that will get me bigger?

    so ok, heres me:

I'm just going to go ahead and take a really unpopular opinion and say quite before you start.

There's no point in us sitting here telling you to get more weights, join a gym, bust your ass... when all your responses are "i'm broke, there are no gyms..."

I'm sorry, but getting big takes money for food, money for equipment/gym, there is no way around it. I'm sure you could do this if you wanted to but at this point you're just making excuses.

Then this isn't the sport or activity for you, sorry.

I don't play basketball because I'm not 6'5". You shouldn't get into this because you're hyper skinny and have no money or car.

There are things people want and there are things people can have. Most of the time they're not the same things.

    Sorry.

How old are you? You live with your parents still right? Get a job, eat as much as you can, do any exercises you can that don't require weights (situps, pushups, wallsits...) You won't get 'big' but maybe you won't be scrawny. Get a job, join a gym.

    Or don't.

You don't necessarily have to give up just yet. If you are really motivated, you could MAKE a sled and some other shit that you could build good starting strength with. Pullups are free, so are pushups. Hell, I used to use my grandma's old walker to do dips with.

Like I said though, you REALLY gotta want to do this or it won't work.

I used to do dips on my boss' walker... probably pissed him off, cuz he's like 70 and old, and I'm 20-something and in shape. Yeah, rub it in, asshole...

Hey, while you're sitting your crippled ass down, I'm gonna bust out some dips!

Shit, I'm so fat now I think doing ONE dip would remove my arms from my body.

srsly. the total irony is that he was using a walker because he just had knee surgery from too much adult softball, and he's a big dude. Wore out his knee, and that pisses him off because altho he was a big guy, he was really active and reasonably healthy, used to play tons of sports. Now he hobbles around everywhere in pain and can't move fast enough to play jack shit anymore, really makes him feel old I think. :(

Medicine has come a long ways with knees. In 10 years they'll have a replacement better than your original. Now shoulders, that's a different story.

    I read this as
im excuses and excuses with excuses

seriously. Even if you're limited with weights, there's always regular exercises without weights you can do to muscle up.. Pull ups, pushups. Fill two pails with water, and run them up steps.
