something needs to happen to the church.
cliffs: it's in the quote.
From what I've seen, usually the patriot brigade or similar group are very good at keeping these types away.
Somebody should really just kill them. Honestly, on a jury of 12 people, you're guaranteed to have at least 1 person who will refuse to vote guilty out of principle, even if they have you killing them on video.
While I am not a fan, Bill O'Reilly offered to pay the $16k. If he pays, it would be an honorable gesture.
Why should he have to pay their legal fees? I fail to see how that would be an honorable gesture. I would see that as supporting a bunch of dumbasses and not supporting the troops. If they ever happen to show up at my funeral I hope my dad happens to have his concealed carry with him and a bag full of extra magazines. I can't believe they have the nerve to protest at the funeral of someone who has the balls to volunteer to protect their right to protest BS like that. As far as I am concerned everyone in that church is going straight to hell where they belong.
Ya know I read that while looking around on CNN and I just think that is BS. I mean, ok don't agree with the war but to not support our troops? The people that are defending their right to protest at all as it is. Its pathetic. That church in my opinion should be violently ripped down with those who protested inside of it.
In a court of appeals, they look at the law without regard to emotion. They overturned the decision and the SOP is for the plaintiff to pay the defendant's legal fees. Bill O'Reilly offered to pay the fees to free up money for the father to continue fighting his cause. The Supreme Court has agreed to hear the case in October, so until then we will not have a definite answer.
This case will be a historical one because it may set a boundary up for free speech. The Westboro church usually plays by the legal rules of the local area they are protesting in; meaning they will get a permit if they need one. They are legally doing nothing wrong. I hope the SC rules in favor of the father and puts the WBC out of the public view.
People need to start going to their church and protesting.
Thankfully, a lot of states are creating laws that prohibit the picketing of funerals. Nobody deserves to be discriminated when they're gone.
On another note: someone needs to tell Shirley Phelps-Roper that she's going to hell for having a bastard child that was born out of wedlock. Fred Phelps should be hung for abusing children.
well, i know ill get flamed for this but... freedom of speech should have no boundaries. they DO have the right to do what theyre doing. i agree with you guys, i think they should all be killed, but still...
I would shoot them if I was the father. They are protesting a dead person that died protecting their right to protest.
WBC, right? yeah. they protested at GMU when McCain was supposed to speak there or something
Yes I believe this but I think people should be allowed to gather without being disturbed... especially for something as sacred as burial! These people piss me off
they are allowed to, a lot of cities and states have passed ordinances requiring protestors to be a certain distance away from the funeral; it's not like they're right there chanting. usually it's across the block.
i think it's fucked up to do this, but burrito is right.
They showed up at Dover when I was there.. They are to the point its stupid what they say. WE did get briefed many times they were showing up and not to get anywhere near them. They have there own Lawyers and videographers waiting for you to assault them then they sue you.
"20 Westboro protestors in the open, white phosphorous in effect over."
protesting a funeral is disturbing the peace in my eyes...noone should have to pay their court fees
Understood, but im sure you have seen videos of them. If thats not disturbing the peace, i dont know what is.
It really is a thin, thin line.
Someone should take one for the team and run them all over with a HMMWV
moar liek HEMTT
