I have a half gallon water bottle that i carry around with me most places I go, and on occasion I'll drink the whole thing in one sitting. Does this put me at risk of death?

The woman that died in California on that radio show drank upwards of 2 1/2 gallons of water in an hour and a half.

You'll get ill and nauseated way before that, so I wouldn't worry.

toss a scoop of powered gatorade in there if you're so concerned.. 2 1/2 gallons of water in under 2hrs is a very very large amount of water..

how many gallons a day are you drinking total? I wouldn't worry about it, since it sounds mainly like you're drinking when you're thirsty.

Most of the cases of water intoxication seem to be people who are in contests or being forced to (frat stuff etc) drink more than they would naturally want to drink, but because of the circumstances, push themselves to do anyway.

But goddamn dude half a gallon in one sitting? Do you sit for hours at a time?

You can wash the electrolites out of your body, i've seen people do it and fall out of running events, etc. But death? :dunno:

its not that there's too much water, its that there's not enough sodium.. keep your sodium intake at a decent level and you wont have a problem.

it's very easy to drink a half gallon of water comfortably in an hour class period

the water intoxication shit comes from dumbass frats making their pledges do challenges with water.

A normal, active person doesnt have to worry. I've taken down a gallon+ of water during a training session.

    that's what I'll do

Say I hadn't drank much water during the day, I'll make up for it by drinking a half gallon in one sitting

If you are thirsty, you are fine. If you are getting dizzy, nauseated, and have a screaming headache, yet you are still slamming water - well, you are about to make more room on the planet for the rest of us.
