Her family isn't likely to pay for much of anything, and neither is mine, so we're going to be footing the bill.

As a result, we're planning on making things cheap, aka non-formal, however, we still want things to be nice.

So far we're thinking of a ceremony in a park, the reception in a community hall, finger foods for the dinners and a cheap $2/glass fee to offset the booze.

Unfortunately, her family's the type where people will actually feel seriously offended and hold grudges if they aren't invited, so it doesn't look like we're going to be able to cut down the guest list - its sitting at 95 people (with about 15 of them under drinking age)

Anyone know what sort of costs I should be expecting? Things like tux rentals, etc.

Also, any tips for cutting costs would be appreciated.

if i ever get married, im doing it in the Caribbean on a beach somewhere.

People who want to come badly enough will pay for their ticket out there.

Save yourself the money and just pay for the parents and maybe close friends to be there.

Tux rentals will be around $150 a piece, depending on what you get. Also, some places do discounts/groom's free if you have a certain number of guys in the wedding party.

If you really want to save money have a cash only bar.

Skip it, marriage changes everything, not worth it.

    - do just appetizers instead of an actual meal. or if you want a meal, do lunch instead of dinner.

    - make everything you possible can (flower arrangements, centerpieces, invitations, favors, etc)

    - hook an ipod up to some speakers instead of hiring a DJ and ask a friend to keep their eye on it to make sure the music keeps going

    - ask friends to take pictures instead of hiring a photographer

    - realize whats really important about that day. its so easy to get carried away with all the little things that go along with weddings. the costs add up so quickly its scary. when it starts to get overwhelming, take a step back and think "does it really matter if i have xyz?" cause it probably wont

    - get married during the off season

I'm pretty sure the memories are made by the people, not the amount of money you spent
