is there something i can get to boost my range. from target or so?
these do WONDERS for network signal integrity:
and the good news is, depending on how far away you are, they can be had for cheap!
not an option
i dont have anything to plug that into
You plug one end into the router, and the other into the computer.
What is it that you're doing where you claim it's not an option?
wi-fi hot spot, otherwise its 56k
is this look like something that would work im just googling shit here
-dBi Omni-Directional Outdoor Wireless Antenna
yea, I'm not gonna help you steal intraweb
it is wireless coming from my mothers workplace(a school). we live really close by.
and it will be used primarily for her work related stuff.
dont try justify your crimes to me.
theft of service is a felony in most areas.
you are trolling, im not stealing it. it is there for use. trust me if i knew how to steal it i would.
i know that you don't know how to properly steal it -- that's why you're posting here. But your lack of knowledge should be the 2nd indication (the law being the 1st) that this is something you should not be doing.
You were doing so well until you fired off that potshot.
one says "Internet Oasis (Free)"
now there is no reason not to help me
Theoretically, if she had permission, she could setup her router in client mode with a directional high gain antenna and point it at the school. Then you would use ethernet to connect the router to your computer or, if you were honest about having no ethernet port, to another wireless router setup as an access point.
Or you could find a neighbor and give them either a "range booster" or a router setup in client bridge mode. Then pay them a monthly fee for the power expense and inconvenience.
Or you could buy a better wireless card with better range, preferably one which will allow you to connect an external antenna to it.
Or you could pay the $45/month for your own internet access and not have to worry about all of this.
:edit: Yes, definitely browse the web and do all sorts of personal stuff while using the WAP which is announcing how free it is. It's obviously not a honeypot.
thanks a lot. i will consider all of these.
