The built in flash gets blocked when I'm using my 10-20mm and leaves a giant dark half circle on all of my photos

I've been looking at the flashes and I think the 600 is the best choice for now.

The only problem is, I need to buy a couch, TV, entertainment center, plants and all kinds of other shit for my condo first :Owned:

Maybe I should just buy it anyway... it's only 180 or so on amazon right now :x:

I got the SB-600 a few months ago. Don't use it too often, except for night shots... does a pretty good job, but i mostly use a diffuser on the front. reccomend that with the purchase.

I use my 600 all the time.

Not that I have it, I couldn't imagine not having an external flash.

Not to mention, if you have a D80, you not have an off camera flash, as the D80 functions as a commander!

    I have a D50 :Owned:

I'm thinking about upgrading in a few months though... although I'm not even sure if the D200 will command it :o

The only reason it would be is if your body doesn't function as a commander, and you're looking at the possibility of using an off camera flash.

I have a 600...I just got a cheap off camera flash to go with it for more strobist possibilities. Since you have the D50 I would pay the extra $100 for the 800 so you can use it to command other CLS flashes + you can set the 800 to be an optical slave and you cannot do that with the 600 (unless you have a D70, D80, D200, etc)

Well, here's my reasoning for holding off on the SB-800. For now, I don't need any off camera flashes. What I can do is buy the 600 now and save a hundred bucks or so... then if I decide to pursue photography heavier I can buy an 800 and use that as the main and use the 600 as the slave

D200 will act as a commander for the 600 and 800.
The 600 is nice. The 800 is nicer :o But for most stuff, the 800 isn't really necessary.

I've got an SB-600, but you're better off with an SB-800 or an SB-24/26.
