infantry, finally worked up the nerve to drop out of school, so the first part of the process took about a year, then the second part 2 weeks :mamoru:

In due time you might regret it. And you will find that it will be very hard to go back to school as more time passes by. I felt the same way and didn't want to go to college (But I did, so I could get an automatic promotion upon enlisting). I didn't exactly want to join the Marines either, but I did. I wish now that I had continued on that path of higher education instead of enlisting.

The main reason for going to school in your case, is the fact that you may have ideas where you want to be, but unless you are specifically sure on how you're going to go about getting it done, school has been the proven method for those that don't have a drawn out plan. And joining the service and hoping that it will give you the tools for your future life in the civilian world is a mistake often made by those joining the military. It helps some, but too many rely on the military to take care of them.

Ask yourself now: What direction do you want to take in life and how do you want to get there ??

If you don't know and want to figure it out later, what tools/methods will you use to figure this out ??

yea same thing happened to me. i turned down a free ride to 2 universities to join the navy to do the bud/s program and now that im actually there now i regret not going to college first.

you will have plenty of time to join the military but missing out on college now is something you cant get back.

Worked my ass off to transfer from a CC to a CSU -- only to enlist in infantry. My good friend? Samething except he went USMC (pre-deployment leave this week for A'stan :hs: )

What I'm saying is that's not unusual and I understand where you're coming from.. joining the Armed Forces put some maturity and realism in me; you'll get your fix as well

Good luck and remember: keep your fucking mouth shut unless your DIs ask you a direct question

lol, we all learned that one pretty quick :)

Just got our first weekend out, won't say much about the training, lots of pain, lots of laughs, but im guessing its the same for everyone.

So yeah, our 'indoctrination' period is over, but we got pretty unindoctrinated last night :mamoru:
