if any of you all know i kinda have a goal of becoming an Combat Rescue Officer...

the more and more i look into it the more it seems like i'll be the one with all the kickass training... doing the typical chairforce thing, sitting behind a desk:hs:

im thinking of finishing up my bachelors(around 1 1/2 years left) and just enlisting... sounds like a waste of time, but fuck if im going to get stuck behind a desk doing the paperwork for the job i've wanted to do since i was 12 then its not worth it IMHO

anyone know what kind of Special Operations jobs there are in the Army for an Officer?!:dunno:

Warrant Officer is IMO the best blend of enlisted and officer.

You got any idea what the odds are of someone with moderately above average intelligence getting into flight Warrant Officer training to fly helicopters?

You do realize there are very little officers whose actual job will consist of jumping out of the plane to do a rescue? Except for the lucky Lt, of course. :coold:

If you don't want to plan/organize the rescue ops, go enlisted. I'm not sure how WOs in the U.S. forces work, but from what I understand they wouldn't be jumping out either? :dunno:

And after a while, I'm sure jumping out of a BH might get redundant. :dunno:

    What about Coast Guards?

If you're a PT stud, then why don't you just join the navy with the SEAL challenge contract, Marine Corps with the Recon Indoc contract, army with 18x contract, etc.?

Pick a branch and just go for it.

Well if that's the case, then why not join the navy as a HM Corpsman in the FMF and get the best of both worlds? You get to save lives, blow shit up, your Marines would respect you one in the same, etc.. And if you're a real stud, get attached to a recon unit or something.

Not all officers sit behind a desk and push paper, I suppose it depends on what your MOS is...

I wasn't commenting about your first post, I know nothing about the MOS you are trying to get into. I was more just saying it because it seems as if people for the most part think all officers do is sit behind a desk and push papers. I know it's a good source of jokes, and I have no clue how many people actually believe that, however this is the reason why I made my comment.
