Lately, I realized that it was time for me to lose some weight, especially around my stomach and sides. I have a spare tire. I decided to hit the treadmill and go at it by cardiovascular means.

Last Tuesday, I started my workout.

Once I wake up, I recover from sleeping, then do some stretching and hit the treadmill; I don't put anything in my body.

I started off doing about 1.5 miles of walking/jogging/running. Now, a week later, I'm at about 3 miles of mostly jogging. Once I get off the treadmill, I stretch again and walk around for a bit. For the rest of the day, I'm suprisingly energized. I thought I would be weak and lazy.

I have definitely noticed a difference in myself in terms of energy, mood, and attitude. I like that.

How long will it take for me to notice a physical difference in myself? By the way, I'm 5'9" about 195 pounds, but it seems all my weight comes from my thighs, my spare tire, or my big bones.

I eat once a day, whatever it was that I was eating before my decision to lose weight, but in smaller portions.

    What would you recommend?

edit. My metabolism sucks since I've started my routine.

eat small portions, 4-6 times daily. Just count your calories, eat low fat food, avoid overconsumption of carbs, and you'll be fine.

Low fat and less carbs = less high calorie stuff in your diet = you get to eat more.

you eat once a day? 5-6 smaller meals. eat healthy, and make sure to eat before and after working out so you dont eat away fat. I would suggest lifting as well, you wont lose as much muscle in the cutting process and you will burn more calories.

So, what sort of things should I eat? Remember, I'm not trying to build muscle, I'm trying to lose weight. Muscle building might come after losing weight, though.

Should I eat fruit? Are small portions of bread okay?

lifting weights will make you stronger and burn off the fat faster. It's definitely something you should do.
