I'm currently with Surpass Hosting, and I'm sick of the amount of downtime they have. 99.9% uptime guarantee my ass :ugh:

However I love their plan/price. Any other *RELIABLE* webhost out there that offer similar price/package?

The package I currently have with them is $60/year for 200GB disk space and 2TB bandwidth. Unlimited everything else (email, subdomains, mysql...) using cPanel on Linux.

    :wiggle: :x:

anyone offering 200gb and 2tb a month for $5 a month is overselling and you will not get a stable server.

the 'you get what you pay for' has never been more applicable.

now, do you really have 200gb of stuff on there? do you really transfer 2 tb a month?

if you want more realistic pricing vs resources. try companies like www.medialayer.com, www.imountain.com, www.downtownhost.com

I've used these in the past and im still currently with medialayer.

    Exactly.

I run all my stuff on VPS's now and could never go back to a shared host. Although I do still have my dreamhost account which I only use to do things like post a 1gb porn and letting OT rape their servers and bandwidth :mamoru:. I also use their mysql servers every now and then to test certain queries and scripts that could potentially crash a server. I abuse the shit out of that poor dreamhost server :hsd:

I have my VPS hosted through Liquidweb. They are amazing. Dooce.com hosts there, as well as other top blog and websites.

but if you do use HG, use coupon "jury" to get the first month pretty much free.

  20. I have used HostGator for about a year. I host three domains.

I have had ZERO down time. No problems what so ever.

i have had good success with site5 for many of my clients. multiple domains, better features than hostgator. also supports basic rails apps and jailed ssh (FTW!)

referral url if you decide to use it:
    http://www.site5.com/in.php?id=41873-22

    site5.com
obviously if you're hosting porn, they will shut you down :p

it's a shared host, what do you expect? until you move up to a dedicated or colocated box, a shared host is fine. obviously it's not :unlimitedbandwidth:, but for 90% of the clients I've had, a shared host has been fine.
