one that has option in the firmware to block certain IPs and from incomming data, to block ethernet IPs from certain sites, to block certain ports on certain ethernet IPs etc.. What's a good router for all this and more? Linksys?

linksys is good so is neatgear. Super G (108 MBPS) wireless routers are the latest trend. Not sure if you are looking for wireless or wired. Checkout http://www.dealsofamerica.com - there was a deal on router and card (Super G) for around $50 with free shipping in last few days..

i wouldn't buy a linksys router though, i've had nothing but problems with the one my parents have. i constantly lose connection if more than 2 pcs are plugged in.

I've used linksys and Netgear.. both work wonderfully.. As a matter of fact I have a linksys wireless router running off of a netgear wireless. Works like a charm! :)

Hows Dlink? I'm basically buying a whole new router just for a few more options in the firmware. The current one i have is limited. I need to block certain internal IPs from certain website and certain ports. :-\ can't do that with a linksys befsr41.

clark connect is a linux distro made specifically for that function.
youre not limited to firmware, becasue theres plenty of addons for it, and if you have the parts its free.
Not to mention, its a faster router.
