Not sure how much to spend on one since I'm new to Canons. Can someone recommend me a 300mm zoom? I'm going to a wedding next week and would love to be able to get some good pics from it using the lens :)

    Thanks in advance.

300mm is overkill for wedding work. The 70-200IS f/2.8 is a nice lens for weddings.

    What's your budget?

    can't go wrong with a 70-200 f/4, f/4 IS, f/2.8, or f/2.8 IS

I guess my budget was definitely not in that range. I was hoping for sub-$1000 range. Also, where is a good place to buy used? Don't say ebay...don't say ebay...don't say ebay...

I've got a very nice 16-35 for sale for only $900. You'll just have to get closer to your subjects. :bigthumb:

sounds more like he's going to a wedding and wants to take some pics. Not that he's "working/shooting" a wedding. :hs:

Ahh..you might be right. In that case, I hope he stays out of the way of the hired pro.

In your budget range check out the 70-200 2.8, or the f/4 IS.. if you wanted to stay closer to $500-$600 go with the 70-200 f/4

I rented the 70-200 f/2.8 IS from lensrentals.com for 7 days. Might as well check it out before trying to get money together to buy something that serious.

Not sure if it's better to have a 5D before the lens or will I get great pics with my T1i. One way to find out :)
