and not Dan Mirgliotta
Mirgliotta is going to have a hard time pushing him with Fitch on top of him. Maybe he'll just step on him.
i never saw that fight before, or at least dont remember it, why was he pushing the guy while he was in mid-flying knee?
could've just let him land then get between them rather than risk injuring the dude.
has any athletic commission punished Miragliotta at all for the stuff he's done?
was he also the ref during the Herring/Lesnar fight who accidentally poked Herring in the eye?
I hope Gono wears the fro and when Dan comes in he can chuck it in his face and disappear like a true ninja. I couldn't stop laughing when I saw that, I know the round may have ended, but jesus...
proof that Big John's idea of a reffing school to standardize the ref's decision making process was a good one.
I don't remember that fight.
Mirgliotta is hilarious, I can't stop laughing at that.
ok, now i know who we're talking about. that guy should be fired, how fucking hard is it to not poke someone in the eye?
what the hell
i wish ufc still had ramp for gono
So you'd rather the ref allow a guy to land a flying knee against an opponent who has stopped defending?
Gono landed an illegal knee (conveniently left out of the gif) just before he stepped in for one of those gifs, and was doing his job as a ref to make sure the fighters don't do damage to each other once the round ends in the other gif.
Mirgliotta sucks as a ref, but it's not because of this fight.
truth... however... my gif is why he is a terrible ref....
Gono did perform an illegal knee, I will concede that much
but the flying knee was right at the bell, at least in my copy of the video
i get your point, but shoving the guy and as a result having him fall and possibly injuring him =! what he should've done to stop that knee.
Taylor / Liaudin
decision victory and he raised the wrong fighters hand
@ the Maz entry: "we’re talking about multiple times where fighters look up at Steve as if to ask “Do you seriously want me to keep punching this helpless person in the face?” The answer from the Mazz: “Yes, yes I do.”"
I disagree. I think Gono had more of a chance to hurt Hardy with his flying knee than Mirgliotta had of hurting Gono by making sure the knee didn't land.
Also, he was already in the motion of jumping between the fighters (meaning the round was over when the knee was thrown) - which would make it very difficult for him to stop his momentum any other way.
