Ive gotten to the point where I realized buying movies for the most part is a waste of money (unless its one that you love and plan on watching again and again...cause I have a list of those that I would pay a premium for). Ive wasted too much money on bluray movies when most just sit around for a few months before I watch them - some I bought last year and still havent even opened! The fact is, 95% of movies I see, I dont care to rewatch again, so that to me doesnt warrant a buy (even if its dirt cheap), I just end up trading it back in. Better than having it sit on the shelf for years collecting dust.

The new releases at $30, fuck that...im never paying $30 for a movie again. Ive been slowly trimming down my movie collection - had as many as 63 blurays, now? 31

I don't get how people do this, I watch my movies all the time. Even if I don't sometimes I just put one in while I do other stuff. :o

I think ive bought 3-4 movies in my life. Movies are a bigger waste of money than a video games

FOr the most part games arent a waste of money compared to movies cause you will get much more time put in and value out of them. I think im past the days of buying new release movies, watch it once and then it sits on the shelf collecting dust for 6 months. Ill either rent or wait for it used at half the price :hs:

I went through my bluray collection and most of them I dont even care for anymore so I traded them in. Would have been much cheaper to just rent them.

Enjoy sub-dvd bitrate from that shitty service. :ugh: Sometimes I wonder if you're just trolling or if you're really that thick-headed.

Staying on topic though, movies cost millions to make so paying $20-30 isn't really a problem for me. Hell, it costs $22 for two people to see a movie at the theater now and the experience is usually worse than my living room, plus you don't get to keep the movie.

I don't buy a ton of movies, just those I really want to see. I hadn't purchased a movie in a long time, until a couple of weeks ago when I started buying them up again. I usually go for good deals though.

Blockbuster and Rogers. $4.50 for 2 days or $6 for a week which is decent, used to be $7 for one night

I usually don't buy blurays unless they're 50%+ or more off. The way I see it, this is the last time you'll have to buy any of these movies.

it's always funny trying to hear someone who knows nothing about bitrate try to talk about it. You probably also think that TrueHD is inferior to PCM and that Mpeg2 > VC1

btw, Netflix rents Blu-Ray as well. $15/mo for Netflix is way more awesome than buying movies at $30 a piece.

i have like 4 blurays. 1 of which i never watched. i do however get them through netflix which is great because for less than the cost of buying 1 bluray a month i can watch 4 through netflix (1 every week). i dont really care to rewatch any of my dvds/blurays/hddvds.

How many times will I have to link this? Their streamed videos are shit quality.

    http://blog.netflix.com/2008/11/encoding-for-streaming.html

Also, mailing movies back and forth is just a hassle. If I were to rent, I'd rather just go to the store and rent something.
