Ok, im going to go down today and pick up a claybar kit.

I washed the car yesterday, but there is like a layer of dust over it, should I re-wash it?

What order should I go, Wash, claybar, wax?

I have 2 kinds of wax, some kind of liquid NXT, or something like that... i think it is meguires, and I have mothers caranuba (or whatever) wax.

Should I use both, or only one?

Also, anyone got any good wheel cleaner? I just spray some westleys tire bleach on mine, and it cleans up nice, but i dont want it to eat away at the clearcoat (I have painted aluminum rims)

    Thanks alot!

NXT is really good because it will fill in swirls and make your paint look really wet and glossy.

I'd wash, clay, polish with something like Meguiars ColorX or #9 Swirl Remover then wax with NXT for the best results.

Make sure you let the NXT dry for about an hour. You want to put it on really really thin. Once my pad is primed, I do an entire car (4 door) with only about 3-4 quarter sized squirts. Thin and drying is the key to NXT.

Scotts right. You can even get a bottle of the Megs Crystal #2 in the 3 stage. Red bottles. You want to polish to really get the wet, deep look.

Thanks, I picked up some NXT spray detailer too today when I got my claybar.

Should I do it when it is cooler outside? It is about 90 out here now, and tommorows high is 89, so should I wait?

Also, if i skip the polish part, how much of a difference will there be? If it will only be a small diff. then I will skip it, but if it is going to look nice, i will get the polish.

How long will my claybar last? Should I rip a small piece off, or use the whole bar, or what?

    Thanks alot!

I've been detailing in 95-100 degree temps all week, no problem.

If your paint is near perfect, polishing won't make a huge difference but if your car is at least 6 months old, get the polish too.

Cut the clay bar in half, usually a clay bar is good for 4-5 cars, sometimes more if the contamination you are pulling off is light.

Needs to be way cooler. The spray will dry and streak. You'll notice a MAJOR difference with polishing.
Do it right. You'll only have to polish once.

Out of the direct sun, you will be fine. Claying in the direct sun is not a good idea, even if it is in the 70s.

oh yea, i didnt get the colorx yet, but my car is silver, so it always looks shiny, so should I still get it?

I guess i should, i mean it wolnt hurt.

I have a mark on my car, it passed the "fingernail" test, but i cant get it out, i tried compound, wax, scrubbing it, WD40 (and washing it off fast so i wouldnt ruin the paint) but what else can I try???

Thanks, and sorry for so many questions :)

    Just get the ColorX.

No way of knowing what to do about the mark on your car without seeing it. :dunno:
