I'm about to be done with college and need a new laptop, and really want a new macbook pro. The only thing is that I don't want to pick one up, and they come out with new/faster/better model the month after. So do you guys have any idea when they will be releasing the next gen of MBPs?

I was thinking of putting my c1d mbp on ebay so I can get a new one when they come out, I wonder when that's going to be.

    April - OSX 10.5 (Leopard)
May - Intel's new processors (Santa Rosa)
June - nVidia's new graphics cards (Geforce 8 Go)

I'd hold off just for Leopard. It WILL come in the Spring.

Or if you can spend $130 on the operating system when it comes you, you could pick up the computer now. You won't regret it either way :wiggle:

Leopard is probably the most speculative of all of those. Ironing?

Intel has released an official statement that Santa Rosa is going to be a mid-May release, and Taiwanese ODMs (such as Asus, who manufactures the MBP) have word that they will receive shipments in early May.

nVidia has set an early June date for the 8000 series graphics cards and will begin shipping to OEMs in May.

Given Apple's enormous success with Intel processors, I don't think they'll be more than a week or two behind with releasing Santa Rosa notebooks.

its an apple product. if you keep waiting for the next best thing u will wait forever. buy it now and be happy and replace in a few years if you want.
they roll badass stuff out all the time, so like i said its better to have now and be happy than wait and wait and wait

The MBP has an average ~6 month lifespan, so if you buy at the beginning of the cycle, you'll definitely be fine. Considering that this current cycle ends in <80 days, it's worth waiting.

    I totally miswrote that.

It has a 6-month production cycle. Every 6 months they refresh the line with the latest tech.

I asked this before but havent heard an answer...

If someone buys a mac, and then Tiger comes out a week later, does that person gets a free upgrade? It seems unfair that Apple do this since they so secreative about release dates...
