I like the Lowepro Slingshot 100 and 200, but I'm wondering if there would be something better?

I've been wanting to get a bag and just found out I'm getting flown down to Gainesville, FL to photograph the opening ceremony of the Eclipse Aviation Service Center and will be using my own gear because 1) the canon XTi we have is being used back here in Albuquerque and 2) I like my Nikon better.

This is basically giving me an excuse to go buy my bag. Any suggestions on what to get?

In the future my ideal setup that should last me a while will be my D50, an SB600 flash, my Sigma 10-20mm and a Nikkor 18-200vr.

Right now though I don't have a flash and I'll be taking my 10-20, 18-55 kit :greddy: and a 70-300 to the shoot.

The 100 will probably be too small for your future needs. See my thread I did a mini review of the 200 its a nice bag but tends to wear on your shoulder if you'll be carrying it around all day :hs:

maybe also consider a shoulder bag if you need fast easy access to your camera :dunno:

yeah, I read your mini review yesterday. The thing I don't like about shoulder bags is they seem too clunky and it seems like they would hurt more after hours than a sling would.

I should probably go with the 200

IF you're set on the slingshot go for the 200. I was considering the 100 when I bought mine and had I gotten it I would've had to upgrade already (that was around 8 months ago). If I were to buy again I think I'd go for a backpack style bag instead of the one-strap simply because my shoulder is messed up and after a while it hurts, I think, more so than other users.

Definitely go with the 200 if you want that type of bag...shoulder bags arent too bad I carry one for work at least you can switch shoulders if one gets tired I couldn't do that with the slingshot :hs:

that primus bag is nice :eek3:

Well, when I absolutely need to upgrade I'll prob. go with the Tamrac Expedition 7 or 8. It's more of a bitch to get your equipment out but most of the time if I'm shooting I have my camera out with me anyway...the only time I put it away is if I'm taking a break. They're a little more pricey but if I had to do it over I'd go with that.

hmm, that's true. I still think the look of the slingshot is better than a normal shoulder bag.

I have all the items i'm going to buy open in amazon.com windows... just waiting to pull the trigger and buy them :o

I was at Fry's last week and they had one hell of a selection of bags, I'd say go there and take a look at what they have and decide what is practical for you and your gear. I don't have much gear and probably won't be getting anything other than what comes with the camera so for me, the Lowepro Rezo 120 is sufficient. I was gonna get a CaseLogic bag but it didn't have a screen protector or built in weather bag like the Lowepro does so that was the deciding factor.

I use a Tamrac Velocity 8 sling shot back and a Kata HB205. I use the v8 when I travel light and the Kata bag when I lug everything around. The Kata bags feel are comfortable to wear even when lugging 25+ lbs of gear for a whole day.

I ended up getting the Lowepro Zoom mini, but when I get another lens I'll upgrade to something that'll give me room for expansion, maybe I'll visit a pro store too.
