i got my FOID card a few days back, and one of my friends is taking me to a range tommorow
I'm trying to find a good hand gun, so over the course of the next few months, i'm gonna try various guns and see what i like
(If they have it) I'm gonna try out the sig p220
what appeals to me is the shear stamina this thing has

i'm gonna try the 9mm, even though the article is for .45 ACP
what kind of difference should i expect?

is this gun out dated? is there a newer model i should try?

any other suggestions for me to try?

the 9mm will be a P226 not a 220, the model number denotes calibre as well... the 226 comes in 9mm, .357sig and .40cal, where as the 220 comes only in .45

you've got the right idea of finding the gun that fits you rather than just picking something cool... hope you find what ur looking for!

in terms of reliablity if you stick with the big names, glock sig HK Walther SA you shouldnt have any problems...

make sure to try a 229 and sig pro 2022 as well. Sig pro is a couple hundred dollars cheaper.

Btw there is nothing unusual with that pistols "stamina" Any quality firearm is going to be able to shoot way longer than you'll care about. Be safe and have fun.

What part of IL are you from?

I highly recommend the Sig P226. The difference between the 9mm and .45 are huge. Also the P220 grip is thinner since it is a single stack and not a double stack.

My 1st handgun was a p226 (I got it a couple of months ago) in 9mm and extremely satisfied with my purchase. I have large hands and the gun fits me well. It's been almost 1k rounds later and still couldn't be happier.

In illinois to have/buy guns or ammo you need a state issued firearms card. Instead of registering guns, we register owners.

So, after various delays, and reschedulings I finally went shooting with one of my friends.
We got a sig p226, and four boxes of 9mm buletts

the left is the first target i shot. i was so excited/nervous that i shook so much that i only got ONE bullet in the center box
i improved a lot on the right target- the circled in stuff is from when i aimed at the left shoulder of the target
