im a complete noob at building sites.

But, I purchased a domain name from Godaddy, and a webspace from them too. So I am ready to install vBulletin right?

Well when I try to I cannot get the fucking script installer to work. I edited my config.php to fit what I am almost certain are all the correct settings. Also I created a database to use on my host center, but it still isn't working!!!

Someone please help me out before I go crazy

when I type in www.myservername.com/install/install.php it says

    "Page Not Found"

Says if 1. I am the owner I have not uploaded my website correctly.
    2. The url is wrong.
    3. The link I clicked on incorrectly points to this page.

what do you mean in your control panel.

Inside the ftp where exactly did you upload the files ?

List the folders you see when you first go into where you upload your files.

At godaddy I log in to my account, then go to my hosting accounts lists, i open the control panel for my website. Then I open the FTP client that came on there, and i see my computer on the left and on the right I see

    _db_backups
    cgi
    php_uploads
    stats
    favicon.ico
    gdform.php
    index.html (I created this one)
    missing.html
    php.ini
    welcome.html

    Thats all...

okay so can you open up index.html ?

If so, then you still need to upload the remaining folders. You need to put ALL the folders from the vbulletin in there. You'll see an install folder and other ones

    Yup okay.

Now upload all of the files/folders from your vbulletin in there.

You can make a new folder if you'd like, and upload it all in there

    ok i'll do that.

I did that last time, took forever and finally uploaded everything, but it didn't work. I'll try again though because I deleted that folder.

Ya you need that in there. If it's not in there, then you wont be able to access the files.

Make sure your config file is all set up and such.

    It should work then

edit: the folder that you are in, ie the one like this:

appears to be your www folder so you are already in it :)

    Well the script installer worked.

Now I get an error on the 2nd step that says,

    Attempting to attach to database
Error description: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/usr/local/mysql-5.0/data/mysql.sock' (2) /home/content/j/o/r/jorgesito/html/forums/includes/class_core.php on line 274

I know but it is all right as far as I know, thats where i am stuck. I have tried like 5 different options. Maybe I should retry them now that I actually have the installer working.

BUT, through my ftp, I can't access individual files to change....I don't want to have to upload ALL the files EVERYTIME I try something new.....
