I'm gaining a lot of abdominal fat, what am i doing wrong v.BULKING

    I have been bulking for about 3-4 months now, keeping a log, trying to "clean" bulk, getting most of my carbs from clean sources like brown rice, oats etc. I keep my daily caloric intake at 3800-3900, i try to keep it 40-40-20, which i have done a pretty good job at. The only thing i don't understand, is that i am gaining a more than usual amount of fat in my abdominal area. My current routine is 4 days a week, 45 minutes per session. I currently do NO cardio to conserve my calories. The reason i am concerned is because i am not really gaining any fat ANYWHERE else on my body other than my stomach area. I can still see a decent amount of definition in my tri's/chest/etc., but my stomach is starting to worry me, because i know it's going to be a pain in the ass when it comes time to cut down. Any advice? Here is my routine;


    Day 1: Back/Tri
    Day 2: Legs/Heavy Core Training
    Day 3: Chest/Bi
    Day 4: Delts/Traps/Light Core Training

    you're bulking. stop worrying. fat goes to the stomach, like it or not.

    You ARE going to put on some fat if you are bulking. Bulking means eating over maintenance, eating over maintenance means getting a bit fatter. You probably aren't putting more fat than before but it only begins to be noticeable.

    I've bulked before, and never have i gained this much abdominal fat. This is not my first time.

    It's easier to put on muscle mass without much fat gain when you are noob. It gets harder to do the more advanced you get.

    Then maybe you're bulking too fast. Plus, that doesn't seem like a terrific bulking routine..you're only hitting each body part once per week really?

    Jeff were you consuming the same amount of calories on previous bulks??

    My previous bulks i didn't know what I was doing, i'm guessing i may have been consuming even more, because I was taking N-large, and a lot more calorie dense foods, I didn't keep a log at the time so i have no clue.

    ya :dunno: My legs are usually sore for 3 days+, i would have to drop the volume in half in order to train them 2X a week.

    nah i have been "bulking" somewhat for years, but i didn't record shit, so my gains were always off and on. I have been keeping a log and actually paying attnetion to my diet for about 4 months, so i would say i have gained about 15lbs maybe a little more in 4 months.

    start the upper lower Dual factory hypertrophy split like I did. I was still sore from legs last friday today and did them again. I feel like I'm accomplishing a lot more. I think 20min of cardio after your workout would help though.

    Maybe so but can't push out the bloated face or the love handles or the lack of any ab definition at all!!! I bet his ankle hung over his sock!!
