what the fuck. it takes THAT long? with a PC it would take me like 3 min TOPS

edit~ wtf am i thinking, it take like 5 seconds.

I delete like 4.x GB dvd files all the time, it just says "this file is too big for the recycle bin, would you like to permanently delete this file" and I click yes and its done in a few seconds :noes:

secure empty is gonna put a lot of strain on your HD for that many files :hsd:

also re: Inferno's post -- secure empty aside, deleting 1 or 2 files large in size is a lot quicker than deleting 100000 files that sum to the same size. The difference is that the file headers have to be removed from 2 files in the first case ("deleting" them as far as the HD is concerned), whereas 100000 headers must be removed in the second case.

:mamoru: that article was spun like a motherfucker :o

I wish they had kept the original implementation of secure empty, where you were actually allowed to choose the number of passes to make over the deleted files :sad2:
