I like everything.... and I need to expand my music collection!
Any particular genre?
anything but gangsta rap or classic rock.
What were the last CDs that you purchased?
Ani DiFranco - Not A Pretty Girl
Norah Jones - Feels Like Home
Coldplay - A Rush of Blood To The Head
Dido - (Whatever the Second CD was titled)
The Crystal Method - (the latest CD)
But, that doesn't mean that I want the same artists... I'm looking to broaden my horizons.
I'm thinking of buying
-Prince's new CD
-Alanis's new CD
-Evanescence CD with the current hits on it
-This random group called "The Flirtations" because the CD has a great song that I want at my wedding called "Everything Possible"
-I'm going to break down and buy Justin's CD because I can't help but love "Cry Me A River"
I love good folk music. I like bluegrass, rock, pop, trance. But, I'd love to discover some new stuff.
Melissa Ehteridge's new CD
George Michael's new CD
Great New CD’s
Janet Jackson: Damita Jo
Kanye West: The College Dropout
Hoobastank: The Reason
Patti LaBelle: Timeless Journey
Jessica Simpson: In This Skin
Norah Jones: Feels Like Home
CD’s that I look fwd to…
Kimberley Locke: One Love
Josh Gracin's self-titled debut released June 15th (country singer that I like)
Tamyra Gray: The Dreamer debut released May 25
Slightly older CD’s that if you don’t own, YOU MUST BUY NOW!
Beyonce: Dangerously In Love
Alicia Keys: The Diary Of Alicia Keys
Britney Spears, In The Zone
Justin's album was pretty good...
I heard Melissa's new CD. It was good, but I didn't buy it. None of the songs were a MUST HEAR, you know.
I didn't know that George Michael HAD a new CD out... Hmmm...
the mars volta
Prince's new album is really good but i think it would translate better if it were live...
My Top 5 CDs at the moment are...
Sugababes - Three ("Hole in the Head")
UK Girl Group with really good production and catchy music
Goldfrapp - Black Cherry ("Twist" "Strict Machine")
Electro sleaze, their one song is on that new nintendo ad
Paulina Rubio - Pau-latina *dunno if you even like Latin music*
Seal - IV ("Waiting for you" "love's divine")
One of my fav albums from last year and still to this day
Nelly Furtado - Folklore ("Powerless" "Try")
Not as instantly catchy as the first one but i still like it
My friend bought the UK edition of GM's "Patience". Says its good, but not as good as his older stuff
Adding Seal's CD to my list. Love his voice.
To me, Nelly Furtado sounds like a billy goat. Can't deal with her voice. I'll check out the other three, though (you can download clips of every song) and see if I like them enough to buy. I love Latin music so I'll check that one out for sure.
is that a band, title of a CD, song, what???
I need some sort of punctuation here to help me out.
I'm adding Beyonce and Alicia. Love their voices. Britney... not so much.
Never heard of Kayne West, but I'll check it out, along with Janet, Usher, and Hoobastank. I like Usher a lot. Great vocal style. Jessica Simpson sucks donkey ass and Patty LaBelle... as much as I love that woman's style, I can't deal with her screaming voice. Already own Norah and Barry.
Thanks for the recommendations though.
not a problem, if you have trouble finding any of the songs to sample, PM me and i can send you some of the songs to sample.
If you like Latin music, also check out La Ley - MTV unplugged, juanes - un día normal, and fey - vertigo, which is called the "ray of light" of latino music (i.e. pop diva goes electronic)
It's a band from LA... Think 'De Facto' meets 'Red Hot Chili Peppers'. I think, had 1 cd in 2002, and 2 cds in 2003
Kenye is a lyrical master, def check it out. With that mouth, I bet Jessica could suck a donkey's ass, but the blond thing can sing. Tell me you've haven't heard her remake of Take My Breath Away?? Because, if you have and still think she's bad, I just don't know what to think. Patty is Patty, and the CD is nice. Britney has emulated Madonna so much now, that I like her. She doesn't have the woman's vocals...but with a lil processing, I can really get into it. Do you like to dance? If so, you have to get the Britney CD and get back into that zone...
I sing on the side (at weddings and such) and so I guess I'm especially tuned into people that have never learned how to sing properly. Jessica is one of those people... If you really listen to Take My Breathe Away, she sorta... grunts through that song... and makes these like... gutteral throat noises.
As far as Britney is concerned. She's definitely tried to emulate Madonna. But she will never be Madonna because she's not focused enough. She doesn't really know what her strategy is. Madonna is a mogul for a reason... a never-ceasing strategy to be a star and surrounding herself with people who can dance, sing, and act so that she can look better than she is. Britney's just in it for the parties and pretty boys.
OK, end of rant about manufactured pop stars.
Am i reading right that you actually like that remake!? She doesn't sing, she shrieks.
She's only selling cause people like seeing her stupidity on Newlyweds. If Nick Lachey wore more revealin clothing and acted stoopid, then his solo album woulda done the same
And Britney should kiss the feet of whoever wrote and produced TOXIC because that song saved her career.
Werd to the werd werd,
The last 3 CD's I bought were Can I Say - The Last Goodbye, Tori Amos - Confessions of a Librarian, and The best of the Pixies album. haw.
...I still like them both. (But if someone hadn't smacked Britney with the Madonna stick, I wouldn't have purchased her album; the beats on In The Zone are too slick to ignore...)
Skip getting Usher confessions and get his old one, 8701. It blows confessions out of the water, and confessions best track isn't even on the CD.
