i'm an idiot please advise (physical computer problem)

yes i meant advise not advice, well one day recently i went to get up from my computer, stepped over to pick something up, forgetting that my cd burner was open and hit the tray with my leg. now it's off the track and i can't get it back on, it doesn't look like anything is broken but i have no idea how it connects.

so, is this fixable (obviously you cant tell for sure since you cant see it) and if so how much would a store (best buy, geeksquad etc.) place charge to do it parts, labor etc. i know its a vague question

any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks

As cheap as CD burners are today, I wouldn't even pay to have it fixed.
You could get a CD burner for like $30 man.

Agreed, I am a PC technician and all the techs i know wouldnt even bother fixing it, same goes for floppy drives, if someone calls asking us to check out their floppy drive, we tell them bring it in and we put in a new one. It's not worth anyone's time to even check whats wrong with it.

:werd: For my customers I try a new IDE ribbon, then a new drive. Fix a cd-rom? If by fix you mean throw-away and buy a new one, then yes.

3 screws on the case, 4 screws on the drive and two cables, tops. look at how the broken one is installed, draw a pic if you want, and put the new one in the same way.
