I sent my Macbook in because whenever I rested my palm on the area next to the trackpad when I type, the cursor clicks, making it impossible to type anything. Got it back 2 days ago and now the problem is back. Called Apple and they want me to send it in again for repair, won't even fucking replace it. I argued, talked to the supervisor, but nothing. This will be the 5th time I sent it in for repair in the past 2.5 years. Fucking bull shit, never getting a Mac again.

    history of repairs:
    1) DVD drive tore up my cds (replaced dvd drive and cables)
    2) Sound stopped working (replaced logic board, dvd drive, cables and case)
    3) When I got it back from that repair, the computer turned off every 5 minutes. Sent it back in. (Forget what they did)
    4) Trackpad is all fucked up, when i rest my palm on the area next to the trackpad when i type, the cursor clicks, making it impossible to type. (replaced cd drive, cables, and top case)
    5) sending it back in for the same problem

Steve Wozniak once said, "Never trust a computer you can't throw out a window."

Why did you get a Mac in the first place? Windows ain't fantastic, but you can't beat the software selection.

because obviously his problems are software selection issues :hsugh:

sorry man, my ex had sort of a same problem with her ibook, sent it in for repair like 4 or 5 times and had 2 logic boards replaced...

me, i'm still on my ibook which i got around the same time and haven't had an issue yet...

hopefully they'll hook you up, cause all those repairs are a tad much...

Because obviously you can't comprehend what you read :hsugh:

I'll try to translate that for you:

PC hardware usually doesn't have those kind of problems, on average.... and a Windows machine isn't perfect, but it's not bad and there's plenty of software for them.

Don't you think by the 5th repair they would replace it? It's such a god damn inconvenience, especially when it's getting close to the end of the semester and I'm loaded with work and can barely type. I had to write my past 5 papers on my girlfriend's computer.

What else can I ask for from them? I spend $1200 on this shit plus like $300 on a warranty. I think I deserve something with dealing with them for so long.

I got it because I liked the OS when I tried it out. When it works, it's fantastic. I've tried Windows 7 though and I like it a lot too. If they ever do send me a new one, I'm just gonna sell it.

example one: my dad's old laptop
screen died, sent in for repair
disc drive died, they sent a replacement
computer constantly would freeze, sent for repair... worked for a week, same problems, called tech, they had no idea...
i found the problem and fixed it... with pieces of a fucking styrofoam cup... i shit you not...

    example two: co-workers current laptop
usb plugs don't work, disc drive doesn't work, wireless doesn't work, ethernet doesn't work. so basically shes got a 4 pound machine that can take notes and print through the parrallel port...

but you're right, pc's don't have problems

The old Mac Portable would have been fun to try to throw out the window.

Reading comprehension still > you. Quit while you're behind.

    I said "doesn't usually have"

There are always exceptions, any item that is mass produced will have some lemons. I'm just saying that proportionally speaking the number of problems people have with PC hardware is statistically less than the number of problems people have with Apple hardware.

Statistically speaking, he believes himself 100% of the time... how can he be wrong? it's a perfect track record

Have you tried using a USB keyboard, that way your wrists don't rest on the laptop at all? Just a thought...

Well even in my personal experience (I own a macbook) I've had more issues with the Macbook than I've had with about half a dozen PC laptops and netbooks I've had over the years. So statistically speaking in my own situation I can say that PC hardware is more reliable.

I'm sure I can find some other information if you REALLY need it....

Well, I've owned two iMacs and two PCs. I've never had any issues with my iMacs, but I've had a ton with my PCs. And my mom's PC laptop had a lot of issues. So did my dad's old and new PC.

So statistically speaking in my own situation I can say that 100% of PCs are pieces of shit and 100% of Macs are perfect all the time.

In other words, both of our situations are meaningless. Maybe Macs are less reliable than PCs, maybe they aren't. But if you're going to claim something either way, and you want somebody to believe it, you should back it up with actual data.

Here is what I know when dealing with Apple...

They have the best customer service and support, period. Arguing that is fucking stupid because the problem usually lies somewhere else if you aren't getting the best service.

    1. You expect too much. If you are expecting the world and they don't give it to you, you're going to be disappointed.
    2. You didn't go through the right channels. If you want something, go to that person to fix it for you.
    3. You weren't very respectful. Sorry, just because you're the customer doesn't make you always right. Be respectful for them, clearly state your expectations and the resolution you wish to come from it and let them try to deliver. If they don't, use it as leverage for what your next expectations are. But again, be careful of #1.

In your situation, you should expect that they fix the palm rest so your mouse works. Fair enough. Send it back in and let them fix it. If they don't, let them know that you don't feel it is fixed and that you'd like someone else to take a look at it. If it still isn't fixed, take it to a manager or conflict resolution team stating you aren't getting what you should with these repairs and this is downtime from your machine. Again, be respectful. It's frustrating, yes, but getting all bent out of shape and being the douchebag who yells at store employees is not going to help your case.

And honestly, the black macbook was not designed very well and they know this. This is not how all macs are though...I still have a powerbook from 2000 that runs Leopard and runs just fine. But if you're heart set on ditching it and getting a windows computer, then do it. But I have a feeling you'll be doing the same song and dance when that machine does something similar and you have 0% support.

Try taking the battery out and see if you have the same issue. I know it sounds crazy, but if it starts to expand a little, it puts pressure on the trackpad and causes clicking all the time. It's the only thing that makes sense since they replaced the other parts.

He's focused on the problem and wants to blame everyone else instead of doing the "smart" (ie: obvious) thing and using it to finish what he needs to finish.

I mean, srsly. Is he Mr. Moneybags and likes to just throw his money around???
