im like 140lbs 5'8" I want to bulk up

im taking 30g of protien from whey a day. I dont eat meat (never have since a baby, this thread isnt about that) and when I eat it now my body doesnt like it.

Im starting to exersize more and I take plenty of supplemental nutrients and im going to bump it up a little, and eat more fruits too.

What can I do to bulk up. Is it possible to gain 25lbs this summer in mass? I do pushups and stuff but dont go to the gym, would rather have a home thing, like bowflex/month.

My joints kind of crack alot, but I think thats because of lack of exersize, im bumping it up more and taking more calcuim.

    cliffs: too lazy, read thread

edit: I drink plenty of clean water. also, would drinking like 100g of whey a day help? Can I have too much protient and have negative effects? I dont care what it costs to build me, but I want to do it this summer, as cheaply as possible, but I want it done

ill get a pic later too :o

edit: I usually have an hour or so to myself where I usually just get baked and sit on the computer, but id prefer to be working out or something with some music in my own home. Interested in bowflex, as a corperate whore

edit2: oh and no roids :o

Your not going to put on muscle just doing pushups. Go to the gym.

Eating protein wont put on size either, unless your eating so much protein your calories are over your maintanaince level.

    1) get more protein... aim for 1-1.5g/lb. bodyweight (that means you should be getting between 140 and 210g of protein/day if you weigh 140 lbs.
    2) go to the gym... pushups isn't gonna do it
    3) get the rest of your diet in check... if you don't eat meat, get your protein from other sources (not just whey)(cottage cheese is a really good protein source)
    4) go to the gym

to build muscle you need a high protein diet, but you also need a calorie excess. Protein is only the icing the cake.

Plus you need to streign your muscles by working out. Otherwise you will just be getting fat.

it helps build muscle, but i think he was saying that you need to be above your maintenance calories to put on any size

ok... you're skinny... but you want to put on size, so you're going to have to realize that you're going to put on some bodyfat as well

putting on 25lbs of muscle is certainly going to require going to a gym, and probably eating meat as well, unless you're really willing to work hard at getting enough calories and protein from other sources on a very regular basis.

calorie intake is where it shoudl be, or slightly above. I get enough vitamins (or atleast I think so) im always healthy but skinny.

and yes I understand I will put on a little fat too, but aslong as its primarily muscle I dont care. I feel ok strong for what ive got, legs work great. Upper body is pretty meh, and arms are skinny

Get used to getting slightly chubby whilst bulking.
    www.fitday.com

Log your food, plus your exercise. It will tell you if your burning more than your eating. I used to be under the impression you could put on weight without some of it being fat, you cant. But since your so skinny i doubt you will find it difficult to lose the flab once you've hit your goal.

I was 5'8 roughly 140 back in Feb, now I am just a hair from 150. Get a good weightlifting routine that you will stick to, and eat... eat a lot.

Not to mention, 30g of whey protein is nothing. I'd drink 3 of those per day, plus living on fish & chicken. Im not even putting on weight quickly either.

it's hard to tell dude. I've put on 8 pounds since I started 2 months ago and I don't really see a difference in the mirror, except being a little fuller in my upper chest and quads...

My guess is that, especially since I'm on full body, any little bit I gain isn't noticeable because everything else is growing at the same pace. Give it time and eat more.

Iv put on roughly 10kg (22 pounds) in 3 months, its noticable for sure. But iv been eating like a horse to do it. One scoop of whey protein is going to do shit.

If it is then you would be putting on weight, if you would like to put on serious weight, you need lots of food. It took OT like 1 month to bash into my head how much food you do need, log your foods, you've got the link, when you've done this for 2 weeks we'll tell you how your going.

    Meals every 2 hours.
