I'm a dude, and I look pregnant

    ok, so i wanna start losing some inches around my waist. i just got some new pants and had to get size 40! if you look at me you wouldn't even think i was over a 36. my weight seems to be accumulating around my belly, ass, and thighs. i've always had somewhat bigger thighs which looks hereditary because all my uncles have big thighs. anyway, i was gonna start by drinking no more soda or delicious Arizona sweet tea. i hate water but i'm gonna start drinking it as much as possible, i suppose the flavor splash water is just as good? i need flavor. here's what i eat typically week in week out: rice and beans. my wife is puerto rican and she grew up on it so thats what she knows how to good. its good though, and we have a different meat each night with it. my only concern is she uses extra virgin olive oil in the rice, not much, but is vegetable oil better? what are some ideas of luch i can take to work? salads? i work in a construction office so i don't wanna look like girly man.
    as far as exercising goes, i don't have too much time with school and work, so i was thinking of things like push-ups, sit-ups, jump rope, jumping jacks. anything else i could put on there that doesnt require equipment?
    im 6'0" 220 lbs.

    Cut out the soda and other unhealthy snacks. Either don't replace them at all, or replace them with food with a less calories... like fruits or vegetables.

    It's all about calories in < calories out.

    If you're not losing weight when cutting out the soda, just make sure to eat less. Drink more water since it fills you up.

    to burn calories. just doin situps won't just lose the gut?

    my wife showed me the leg lift opposed to doin situps.

    I'll correct you before this turns into a clusterfuck.

    Simply doing situps won't lose the gut. You cannot "spot train". In order to get rid of your gut, you will have to lose fat everywhere else in your body, and this happens when you do three things. You have to eat properly to lose weight. You say you don't have time to really workout, and after a days work in construction you probably don't really need to if your only goal is to lose weight. However, to lose weight fast, you must eat properly, lift weights and do cardio.

    Go to a gym after work if you're serious about losing weight. After your workout (if you don't know a good workout, check archives for christophers routine, it will serve your purpose well), run for 25-40 minutes. Drop you're calories down to 2000-2500 / day while keeping simple sugars at a minumum. Most of your simple sugars should come from fruits. Like you said, not drinking pop and tea will help, but it does not end there. Most of your food should come from protein; a 25% fat, 25% carbs, and 50% protein diet is what I would reccomend. It's not that hard to do with protein shakes if you don't have a lot of time to cook.

    do you drink beer a lot? correct me if I'm wrong, but they say beer can do that to ya...

    its probably just genetics, straighten up your diet and do cardio

    I don't agree with splenda or equal.

    Splenda is also known as sucralose, which is a chlorinated version of glucose. Our body cannot use sucralose as sugar, but the chlorine group on sucralose is something NEVER found in nature and our body does NOT really know what to do with it.

    Equal = Aspartame and aspartame has found to incease formaldehyde byproducts in our body which can lead to mutations in your DNA. :hs:

    Just drink water :o

    thanks, yeah i knew about the "spot training" thing, i guess my puncuation was wrong. btw, i work in the office now, i was out in the field, but even then i wasnt doin shit

    actually, the one genetic thing i didnt pick up, the taste for beer. maybe i drink one once a month if that.

    Well then you definately need to hit a gym or start running or something. Most important thing for weight loss however is a change of diet.
